After about 4 months of pretty heavy usage my tds meter still reads 1 ppm for my RO/DI water makeup. Should anything be regularly replaced, even if I get a low tds reading?

Thanks

Depends on how much water your making and where the source is. Well water will burn up the catridges much faster than public water. My Kent unit recommends you change the cartridges at 6 months.

My current set is at 5 months and still going strong. Of course now I am going to make some water and the tds reading is going to climb because I just said that. :)

I use a kent Hi-s but use the refill beads from buckeye field supply to save money. I replace the sediment filter every 1-2 months and change the DI cartridges every month. Carbon gets changed every 3-4 months.

I would just go by the TDS reading. No reason the change filters if you are still registering a 1 PPM.

I replace the sediment prefilters before the RO unit fairly regularly, in a effort to help extend the life of the RO membrane.

The first prefilter I have is in a clear canister, and sometimes I can see it is brown from rust withing a week after changing.

My tap water runs 550-600ppm, so it is a constant struggle to make good water.
