I am starting up another tank. It will be a 65g, probably heavily stocked, sps, anemone and clowns. System will have a ~10 gallon fuge, ~15 gallon sump.

I need help choosing an in-sump skimmer- I want something quiet, low energy consumption. I am looking at the Euroreef CS-8(I like the 20" height), versus a beckett injector design from My Reef Creations. Euroreef is more expensive by about $100(with the powerbuy), but I will pay it if it is worth it. Is it? I am going for at least twice the capacity of my tank. Does anyone have any advice, or can suggest another good skimmer?

Does anyone know the wattage of the Euroreef's sedra 5000 pump?

Thanks all, appreciate the help!

I'm pretty sure the wattage on the sedra 5000 is 50 watts.

Be sure to include the price of the pump when comparing these skimmers. The beckett skimmers typically don't come with a pump and the needlewheel skimmers do.

If you are on a tight budget you might check out an ASM needlewheel skimmer or check www.h2otropicals.com for blemished euroreef skimmers.

I've used both beckett and needlewheel skimmers and I like the needlewheels much better.

EuroReef's are good. I own 2. The most impressive skimmer I have ever seen in my life was a Deltec this past week. The skimmate was like a sludge, or tar-like substance. This was the nastiest form of skimmate I've ever seen. The smell almost made me gag! I've saving for one of my own now! These things really rock!

in your opinion the Deltec a better skimmer then the EuroReef. I plan on replacing my Aerofomer 630 soon.

I'm really curious about these skimmers,, I keep hearing good things but the prices are a bit high,, probably due to the poor exchange rate with Sterling.

I love my Euroreef but if there's a better skimmer out there that I can wedge into my 24" stand then I want it.

Anyone else here got a Deltec?

I don't know if the large ER's are as good as the large Deltec I saw, but man that thing was some scum sucker! I have heard ER's were copies of older Deltecs, I don't know if this is true though.

I am putting together a 60 and I am going with the euroreef ES5-2. I had a MR-2 on my 110 and was happy with it. once you add a pump to the beckets you come close to the price of the ER. The power buy really makes them afordable this month.

Yes, the Deltec is a needlewheel, recurclating design. Those Deltec's are expensive compared to the ER.
Wazzel, for the money, I would take a needlewheeled ER over a becket every time because of the larger pump required to run the becket

This will be my first needle wheel skimmer. The power consumption should be a good thing. Since I was using a mag 18 on my becket my heat load should also be less.

Plus special pricing that they are not showing on line. This is the time to buy.
