heres the rundown

my 200gallon has been up and running for 6months with no problems. I recently purchased about 100lbs of rock from a friend that has been in his tank for over a year. I checked it no smell or anything. My friend also bought 40lbs from him for his tank. Now we both have the same problem.First i lost my halfblack angel, two days later my lemonpeel, next day 2 neon gobys, two days later bicolor blenny, then my fire clown. All my water checks out as following
ammonia.0
nitrite.0
nitrate 10
ph. 8.2
calc 420
sg 1.022
temp 80

i would notice a fish would hang out in one spot in a rock the night before then the next morning he was dead.

My friend is having the exact same problem

also my inverts are all still alive with no signs of stress. Im not sure what to do i am running carbon and doing 5 gallon water changes daily. I also have one green chromis that is still swimming around like normal. Any one have any ideas on what to do

I would think that if the rock had been in his tank that long then it should be fine, have you both verified your test kits, probably a stretch but might be worth checking...are these dead fish all intact, no scars or anything that may give indication that they were attacked ?? Did this person you got the rock from have fish in his tank ??

Dave is asking the same questions that popped into my head.

I'll move this into the main discussion forum and leave a copy here as well so you get the most feedback possible.

HTH and :welcome: (to both of you)...

The rock you bought... any chance it had preaditory hitchhikers on it? Are the fish simply dissappearing? or are they just killing over? Possibly a monster dieoff from the LR causing a spike? Did the person you bought the LR from use any type of medication that could have been retained in the rock and be poisioning your fish? I donno.. just things to think about.

Let us know as things progress!

Another thought: how did you and your friend transport the live rock? Could it have been contaminated by whatever container you used to move it?

Hope things get better for you!
