I came home from work the other day and saw a colorless and frozen looking shell of my sally light foot. I thought that my emerld crab killed him. So my question is How often does this happen. also Does my Emerald crab pose a threat to my sally light foot. It killed my red starfish and snipped some of my pulsing xenia. so I don't trust him. I am taking him out tomorrow.

It could (and most likely) is just the discarded carapace from molting. Sally Lightfoots do this often and it will go into hiding for several days until its new shell hardens. I wouldn't presume it is dead just yet.

Probably is just molting. But this reminds me of a time when I bought a arrowcrab that wound up cannibalising every crab in the tank. It wound up a big sucker too. Sold him back to the pet store becuase it outgrew my 29 gallon. Its legs were the size of a sharpee marker.

My sally Molts about every three weeks it seems like. Everytime I think it has died. Of all the crab or shrimps molted skins (shells) the sallys looks the most like the real thing.

Thanks,
Shane
