In all honesty, I have been considering selling off my 180 and getting something much smaller. Expenses are way too high and business is not what it used to be... But I cant imagine myself without having a tank. I have had a fishtank since I was about 5, saltwater since I was about 12. (I am 33 now) My dad before me had saltwater before I was born, back when it was more wishful thinking and the lifespan of fish was measured in weeks or months not years.

My oldest fish has been in my tank for 11+ years and was full grown when I purchased him. The state of the hobby has certainly advanced in the past 20+ years. (When I was 12 it was considered hard to keep fish alive for that long!)

Hehehehehe i almost abandoned ship a few times... but all to recognize im here for the long haul..... getting through my prior disasters and decisions not to leave the hobby has made me a more respectful and caring reefer... i love the hobby so (in the words of many) I IZ NOT GOING ANYWHERE :biggrin:

I haven't yet- though I have thought about it lately. My small 16g gets a little boring after a while since I dont have room for new frags! If it weren't for the fact that I don't do much more than change water once a week or two I probably would be out... until I earn more $$$ and can do a nice upgrade

On the other hand I just bought two new clowns and a Royal Grama yesterday, so I am happy again since there is actually something moving around in my tank!

Never quit, and don't think I will ever cause I love it so much. This is my own little FU to that teacher that said I wasn't smart enough to be a Marine Biologist. It is funny how things work out cause if my life had not gone this way I wouldn't have my wife and kids but I would love to have had that career too. Anyway not giving it up at all even when I was selling everything cause of the flood I planned on keeping a small tank I love this hobby and I think it kinda of likes me too

Everday in 2003 & 2005. But started back up the next day.lol So I guess I haven't quit have I. And now, with the setup I have NEVER!!

For a period I didn't buy any new fish or corals but I don't consider it quitting cause I was still taking care of my tanks.

But now I'm selling both my reef tanks, and since I don't ever want to quit, I'm planning on setting up a small nano reef instead.

I have had a tank since i was about 16 - I can't imagine not having one. I have managed to do reef as a full-time student, and i can't imagine being any poorer than that, so I don't think lack of money will keep me out - as long as I live in this home, where my utilities are included... (not very green of me, but...)

I think there is WAY more good to this hobby than there could ever be bad, so I'm in forever, I hope. And when they have to put me in an old folks' home (a long time from now...) I'll bring my tank with me!!!!!!!

Right now I'm seeding my kids' desire to have tanks when they grow up!

Thought about it several times with all the setbacks I've had like leaking tanks and the logistics of keeping such beautiful creatures alive.
I must say that the only way to truly experience a coral reef is to take a swim in one which I have had the fortune to experience a few times.
