List manufacturers you know that make custom size glass tanks. I'd appreciate you rate their tank/service if you have that knowledge.

Inter-american makes custom starphire tanks and have been given both good and bad ratings on the various reef boards. (Usually the bad ratings have been from what appear to be less than patient / understanding posters...)

Oceanic. Good quality and good service, and a great track record. I wouldn't look anywhere else.

I had heard that Oceanic will not ship, so you have to go pick the tank up in Texas. But I don't know if this is still the case.

I had Inter-American in Calgary build and ship me a large Starphire a couple of years ago. The quality of the tank is excellant, although we did have a few "bumps" along the road. I plan to have them build me another big tank in the near future. Mitch is giving a great deal to make up for the previous "bumps". Their prices are awfully hard to beat so long as you have a flexible time-frame.

I think that Oceanics policy is to ship only to thier vendors. They do not sell direct to the public.

I wonder if they can dropship if I order through one of their outlets. No point relocating a 400lb tank multiple times, right? ;)

Man, I want an oceanic too, but man they get expensive.

I guess you pay for what you get, plus the vendors' markup.

Anyone know if All-glass makes custom tanks? Or if they're good quality?

Oh, while we're on it, who makes nice custom stands and canopy? SoCal would be best :)

All Glass makes great tanks Len. I'm almost postive they do custom jobs as well. Again, you order it through a store that carries them, just as with Oceanic.

How would you compare them too Oceanic? Is the quality similar? I know they are less expensive.

(I'm not trying to hijack the thread)

Len, I recently had a custom glas tank constructed for me. I'm very happy with the quality, time it took to build, and most important the price. The manufacture is located in Southern California. I can't recall the name of the manufacture off the top of my head but I ordered the tank thru a LFS in San Luis Obispo called Aquatic Adventures. The owner of the store is who I dealt with his name is Palmer Lancaster, great guy, been dealing with him for 8+ years. The tank is a pentagon, the back sides are approx 4ft in length, I used 1/2 glass and black silicon, it has a built in overflow. I paid $760 for the tank.. I was quoted upwards of $2,000 for custom oceanic. I will post more pictures of the tank tonight and figure out the name of the manufacture as well..

The bottoms of the Oceanic tanks are thicker. However All Glass tanks don't have a habit of leaking or breaking either, and the bottoms are still very thick and tempered. They are very high quality tanks, just as Oceanic is. They are very comparable. Oceanic tanks are available with starphire glass, which is a waste of money IMO.

That's good news, because I have had my eye on a display tank at my LFS. It is one of thier mega-flow models at 120 gallons, and is comparable in price to an oceanic 75 gallon bow front in price (also on display).
