SCWD on return?

Is it safe to put it in the return? What if it jams up?

just as safe as having your pump jam... its your overflow that you should worry about jamming.

From what I gather, if they jam, they just stop switching. Flow would not be impeded but will stop alternating.

Mine has been running without problems for over a year.

Can anyone else comment on the liability of their SCWD? Mine went out just this week (stopped switching) it has only been in circulation for 6months... Has anyone else had this problem? I bought this thing cause I thought they were super reliable...errr.. Maybe I just had a lemon..

Mine has been running for about six months with no problem (especially once I put clamps on all the hoses which eliminated the leaks I used to get from the slight back pressure. My return pump is a Dolphin 1200.

I have two, they both jammed after about 1 year. Vinegar should help with cleaning out algae and stuff like that. But when I cleaned out the spray injector in my protein skimmer, it was clogged with tiny snails! Any ideas on how to clean out larger debrie like like snails from the SCWD?

One thing about them is the impede flow, a lot.
