I have two...purple and yellow. 175W 10K halides is my lighting. Whereabouts should these guys be?

Thanks in advance.

Peace,

Chip

I've found the more light, the more colorful this species gets. Of course, if it starts to bleach, you know to move it on down ;)

I would not go any deeper than 12-18" from the surface.

Okay. I have the yellow one starting to accumulate some brown algae on it. I'll try and move that up into higher current. The only problem is I can't seem to see any polyp extention at all. All my other monitporas have visible polyps, to the point of being almost fuzzy.

Peace,

Chip

How long have you had them Chip?
I agree about moving into some stronger current, hopefully not linear.

Oh, they're new. The problem now is finding some effin' TIME to work on my tank. :?

Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow. Gotta set up an algae station for the tangs and move some pieces around.

Peace,

Chip

Good. 'Cause a man who doesn't spend time with his tank, can never be a real man.

I've got blue montipora danae with red polyps, and it's dead center under my 250 watt halides about 6" from the top. It's growing like crazy -- doubled in size (from a 1" frag to a piece that's over 2") in one month and the polyps are very extended and fuzzy. I think this type of montipora does well with pretty intense light.

I've got that one to, and although not growing quite like KMC's is doing well. I figure generally that brightly colored encrusting species are going to do well under good light and flow.
