Skimmer Recommendations

I need advice from you skimmer gurus.

I'm setting a 30 cube with 5 to 10 gallon sump and would like to hear which external skimmer you guys would recommend for this application?

Under $500.

Some info on the livestock that I plan on keeping if it helps.
I plan on keeping 5 fish tops.
Coral will include a few selected SPS and it will be zoa, acan lord and micromussa dominated.

I'm afraid I will not have enough room in the sump to fit that skimmer.

I love my Turboflotor Multi 1000 along with the oceanrunner ph2500 pump. I've ran this skimmer on a 75g, 120g. and now on my 155g Bow mixed reef with heavy on the fish load. Thought I was going to upgrade, but after 3 months on this last set up I am happy with it. Especially its' versatility,(ho, insump, external) way cool. I skim dry, and get plenty of putrid almost black skimmate. But you can go ahead and spend your $500 on something else. Venturi Skimmers remove dissolved organics before they break down to lower nitrate and raise oxygen levels. The most effective protein skimmer we sell. What are the four compartments for?

That is not my sump, I just used it for an example. My sump will be similar but I will have 3 compartments.
The first one is going to be were everything dumps in the long one is the fuge and the third one if were all the return pump and skimmer pump will take water from.

I would hang a Remora or Remora Pro off the sump.
It'll do good with that size tank.

I wouldn't use a skimmer or I would use a skimmer but not a fuge. They don't work well together as they both do the same thing. If you use your fuge to grow pods, your skimmer will remove all their food. If you use your fuge to grow cheato, your skimmer will remove it's food.

Your best bet, IMO is to use a 10 gallon tank. Have the water dump in on one side, get skimmed and then return back to the tank. You can also keep a heater and other goodies in the sump as well. A fuge of the size you've shown isn't large enough to really have any benefit on a 30 gallon tank.

A fuge of that size is only good for showing people "Look I keep a swamp down here."
