The link doesn't work for me. You might want to check it.

Also, I'll move this into the GRD forum (and leave a copy here) where you'll probably get more feedback.

The RS Berlin is a classic :) Try 1500-2000 LPH. A Eheim 1260, for example, would be a good pump.

Is there somethink less expensive I could use? maybe under £30?

Hmm what about this: Rio 1700 LPH-2436? £30

Also will this be ok in a 36x15x12 - 30 gal fish only tank?

I plan on upgrading the tank to a 36x15x18 very soon and using the old one as a sump so I can start building a reef :) I dont think I can get much bigger as its upstairs in my bed room.

BTW why are my 2 clown fish digging holes in the sand? They have dug a large hole at the back of the tank right down to the glass. I have never seen them do this before.

i have 2 of these skimmers. 1 on my 125 reef and 1 on my 55 fish. the secret to these skimmers is to over pump them a bit. berlin suggests a rio 2500 but i have found that after a short time that is not enough pump. my reef one runs quite well with a surge 6000(870 gph) and the fish 1 has a rio hf17(about the same gph as the surge maybe a little more) they both run really well with those pumps. a mag 9.5 would run them really well also and they are available everywhere. i already have a mag 9.5 to replace the rio when it goes bye bye as it surely will since it is a rio. hope this helps.

In my experience, avoid Rio pumps at all costs. There are similarly-priced pumps, like the Mag Drives, that outperform them at every turn. Rios have a reputation of failing at most inopportune times.

They'll do this until they find a host to settle down in. Mine did it for months until my tank was ready for an anemone. They've now been in that anemone for 5+ years. :D

Peace,

Hmm I have been googling these 'mag drives' There pond pumps, right? Is that going to be wise in such a small aquarium? I mean 800+ GPH is going to turn my tank into a hurricane :D

Iam very confused :/

Mag 3 = 350gph
Mag 5 = 500gph
Mag 7 = 700gph

:D

Peace,
