I purchased a 30" Twin-Tube light strip from All-Glass for around $80 (Expensive, yes, supposedly supported, yes), that included two bulbs that seem to output light in the proper spectrums (at least, I am doing Tropical Planted, but that is not an issue for this thread). However, I discover as I open it that it is designed to mount on a VERSA HOOD, and not a DELUXE HOOD, as I have. Now, besides the fact that Versa Hoods themselves are überteuer, I would need to wait even longer to save up for that.

Does anyone have any ideas how I would mount this on a deluxe hood? The issue is that it is longer from front to back than a normal strip light, and part hangs off of the back of the glass part of the hood, so I lose 50% of the light (the advantage of getting a twin-tube).

Any suggestions?

For light, I alway DIY. The only reason for buying commerically available strip light is for that perfect fit without hassle. I would return it and ask for the correct style.

You may be able to tile the setup and get all the light to shine down the tank, but that totally defeat the purpose of spending $80 on a pre-made light. Again, get rid of it.

A glass versa top for a 30" tank should only run you about $20. It's a hinged glass top with a plastic strip on the back to cut away for your filtration etc.

The versa-hood is the plastic hood with the plastic "windows" for the lights to sit on/shine through.

If you bought a twin tube strip, it should fit on the glass versa-top ($20).
