where do you chaps get your chemicals from on this side of the pond? Have you an equivalent of LABPAK back in britain.? I need some calcium hydroxide, magnesium chloride, pottasium iodide.

Calcium hydroxide: It is for my mother to make prickles.

Potassium iodide: I need to get ready just in case some drop a dirty bomb in London.

Magnesium chloride: My son need magnesium supplements.

Just don't bring them as carry-on. Because some people may feel uncomfortable with all these chemical. Calcium hydroxide, for example, can do wonderful things on aircraft's aluminum frame, not to mention the ability to cause death/serious injury if you disperse it in a enclosed area, such as in the cockpit....

If I'm not mistaken, you can get most of those items at your local grocery store.

calcium hydroxide=pickling lime=find in canning section
magnesium chloride=eposm salt=find in health & beauty section
potassium iodide=???=sorry can't help on this one. But ask at your pharmacy

Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate.

You should be able to find the things you are looking for from an online science store or chemical supply company. I would check with the science stores first as they deal with teachers and may not require you to have a business to purchase.

yep i know that epsom salts are not mg chloride. i am glad i am not the only one who knows this. I will find some somehow

calcium hydroxide is pickling lime as stated before. we get it here in grocery store under a brand name mrs. wages or possibly ball's. I presume you might have different brand names across the pond.

thankyou bob so it comes as normal powder hydroxide? and under the name MRS wages???? where would this normally be in a store, by the vinegar etc?

actually here it was in the canning section. So it also could be seasonal.

You can also use calcium chloride (dow flake brand name) for the calcium part of a diy two part supplement. And baking soda as the second part.

Calcium chloride is sold here as a sidwalk ice melter. And as a cement additive. I got 50# at a local redi mix.

The ice melter stuff can be nasty for your tank. I will try getting some that at least is safe for livestock use.
