Dude, your tank is truly one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I haven't even read the darn article I just saw those corals and had to post.

Hey tony I already told you, but I love your tank. Just sucks that you dont have any of your caps anymore. But atleast you have room for more SPS. Thanks again for the frags.

Thanks again to everyone.
Enjoy the frags. Most of the pieces in my tank started out that way. It takes a while but it does feels good when you can say I grew that whole coral from just a frag. Hopefully yours will soon turn into full colonies once again.

"Peladow calcium chloride (ice melter) for raising my calcium and Epsom Salt to raise the magnesium levels. I also use pickling lime for making kalkwasser and baking soda as buffer"

any way you could outline the chemicals you are buying(ie: name brands) and ratios? any help would be MUCH appreciated. i've been getting tired of buying expensive watered-down products "designed" (read repackaged) for the hobby. its refreshing to see someone with a tank so prosperous using chemicals from the grocery store rather than from the petstore! do you do any iodine supplementation or do you rely soley on water changes for that? thanks again!

Sorry it took so long to respond. Well the Peladow Ice Melter is a calcium chloride just like turbo calcium by Kent accept it's 100 times cheaper. If you live up north you can find 50lb bags really cheap but if it has to be sent the shipping can be as much as the calcium itself. They have small 10lb bags you can order also. I believe the product name for the 10lb bags is Quick Joes Ice Melter. As far as epsom salt, I use CVS pharmacy brand but I'm sure you can use pretty much any kind as long as it's all natural. I use Ball's pickling lime for kalkwasser. Mrs. Wages should be fine also or any other brand for that matter. I use the calcium just like you would use turbo calcium (it's very strong) about 1/8 cup per day (for 250 gallons) just to raise it and the reactor will maintain it for me until the next water change. The pickling lime is used the same as your normal kalk. The epsom salt is less potent. I have added as much as 4 cups at a time but you need to be careful your sulfate levels don't get too high because epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. How you would know your sulfate levels are too high... I have no idea :?. I have been using it for a long time but about 6 months ago I started using Grotech Magnesium Pro in my reactor so I wouldn't have to use so much epsom salt. Hope this helps.
