I just wanted to know if this product called all in one by salifert really is like using a 2 part calcium and alkalinity product......Does all in one also balances out the water parameters of calcium and alkalinity to that of natural sea water or even better....Is it true that all in one can be used weekly ....and if used on a regular basis will it maintian the correct levels of calcium, alkalinity, trace, etc. within the tank....except for iodine which i will add with a seperate additive....

waipahu50....

Here's a description of the product from salifert's website.....

About All in One
All in One can make the use of the so-called A and B calcium and alkalinity supplements unnecessary.
It contains almost everything required for growth by corals and the beautiful encrusting pink and red coralline algae. All in One will increase the alkalinity (carbonate hardness), calcium, strontium, trace elements (except iodine) and amino acids concentrations.
We explain the necessity of these below.
Calcium, strontium, carbonate (alkalinity) and amino acids are the major constituents of calcareous algae, skeletal material of hard corals and the skeletal needles of soft/leather corals.
Growth and multiplication of these organisms means depletion of those substances.
The trace elements included in All in One allow organisms to carry out many biological processes.
Manganese for instance is essential for the many biochemical reactions, which make photosynthesis possible.
Iron is essential to many organisms for absorbing nutrients.
Cobalt is essential for the formation of several coral pigments.
Zinc is, like manganese essential for photosynthesis and is also used in the formation of calcium carbonate by corals.
These are just a few of the trace elements present in All in One and we could give many more examples.
This Supplement is highly concentrated and contains for example approx. 55,000 ppm calcium, corresponding amounts of biologically-activated bicarbonate and approx. 1000 ppm strontium.
The calcium is acetate based and is converted within minutes to calcium bicarbonate. This unlike gluconate-based products.
All ingredients are of a pharmaceutical quality or even better. This ensures that no unwanted elements are added to your valuable aquarium.
Some other requirements
Occasionally an additional boost of alkalinity with our KH+pH buffer is recommended to compensate for alkalinity lost by, e.g., decaying food. Also, iodine should be supplemented for excellent results.

Directions:
Shake before use.
Regular maintenance:
Dose 5 ml per 100 liters (25 gallons) once a week. If fast growth of corals and coralline algae depletes calcium and alkalinity very fast then you can dose 5 ml per 100 liters (25 gallons) per 2 days.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes rinse with plenty of water. Only for aquarium-hobby use. Not for human consumption (directly or indirectly)!

Active ingredients: calcium acetate, strontium, trace elements, amino acids.

The answers last time didnt really explain what i was trying to ask...

Which is ......If i can use this product instead of the 2 part calciums since it already has pretty much what a 2 part calcium has....And will it get levels of calcium, and etc. to where they need to be and maintain them with regular usage......

Are you keeping a softies tank, or you are doing something else?

For softies, you should be able to get away with regular water change without calcium additive of any sort.

The important thing here is to be able to monitor whatever element (calcium, etc.) you think is important, follow the direction on the additive, and dose it when the level is below the expected concentration. Chemically, both two parts additive and Sal's AIO work. But rather you need any of them depends on your calcium demand.

well yeah iam trying to go for softies but, I do want to sort of boost my coraline algae growth....In which I do have to add some calcium and etc. since I dont have those elveated amounts found in most reef tanks......So basically I want to raise and maintin a stable enviorment.....of some sort of level of calcium, alkalinity, etc. to ensure that the purple coraline would grow and the needs of some other corals would be satisfied if i were to get a few species that do require some sort of calcium addition.....

Get a calcium test kit before the additive. Test your water and see what is your level, and if it is not satisfactory, get the Sal's AIO and see if the level goes up as expected.

IME, regular water change is enough to keep nice coralline algae growing, but I started to drip kalkwasser after the 2nd month, so YMMV.
