I used to change 10 percent of my 55 (which equaled out to a 5 gallon change) every friday. I recently noticed (mentioned in another post) a small cyano outbreak. I also noticed that my coraline spread is grinding to a halt. Should I up my changes to 10 gallons every friday? As long as I adjust the water parameters correctly (which i do anyway.) It shouldn't be a big deal......or will it?

I was only wondering because I know you can change too much water at one time. Wasnt sure if 10 would be a shock.

weekly works for me. 10% is really all you need to do unless your water params are out of whack - then 20%.

for the cyano, Have you tested for phosphates? you need to direct more flow to the area, suck out as much as you can with a turkey baster, run some type of phosphate remover (rowaphos, phosban) and if all of that fails to reduce/remove the problem, Chemi-Clean works great. Just be sure to follow the directions.
