I have had my Remora Pro HOB now for about 8months and in the last month have purchased the overflow box for it. Before using the overflow box, I would get a decent amount of wet skimmate in the collection box. But since putting on the overflow i get minimal skimmate. I have the collection box pushed down as far as possible so i can still grab it out. I get some noticeable foam at the top of the tube yet no mass quantities. Also since putting in the overflow, my surface water is much cleaner without any of the brown slimecoating like it used to have. My question is am I doing everything write or is my tank just cleaner. I did lose two fish and now only have a sailfin tang, coral beauty, sixline, flamehawk, and three small yellow damsels. Also i have the Rio1400 on it. And the only filtration is LR and skimmer. any advice would be wonderful

Did you give it a thorough rinse before you put it on the tank?

If not... oils from manufacturing get into such equipment, it usually takes it about a week to settle out on its own, but I'd advise rinsing such things several times in tap water and allowing to air dry before placing them in the system in the future.

Adjust it depending on where you get the ugliest, darkest skimmate. For a while, you may need to keep it dropped to its lowest point to make sure you get skimmate at all.

Once it starts skimming well again, you can adjust it upwards to get darker, nastier skimmate.

I have the same one I agree Jolieve. You realy need to keep it clean. Also rinse it well. Alsao ther is still a break in period. Keep adjusting it. You just have to find that sweet spot. Very good skimmer IMO. Also when you feed the tank sometime the skimmer will act up. Thos are normal things. Ifyou have a heavy bioload it should pull out more gunk. Good Luck

I own an Aqua C Remora (with the MJ1200 PUMP) (had it for about 6mos). I've talked to the actual OWNER of AQUAC and he recommends having it set to where you get the wet skimmate. Some ppl adjust it up as to get foam, be seems you pull more nasty stuff out with the wet.. according to this guy...(I can only assume he knows what he's talking about).

Also, after about 4 months I began gettin a LOT LESS skimmate in my cup. I think my tank is just lots cleaner. I have it on the LOWEST setting point and I only have to empty MAYBE 1x / week.

Great skimmer.

I would not recommend running the standard remora on anything larger than a 40 gallon tank.

I ran one on my 75g tank for 9 months. They have a break in period, and eventually get to the point where they don't pull skimmate if you are running one that is too small for your system.

Upgrade to the larger skimmer and you'll find that you do still have PLENTY to skim.

Well I have a remora pro so it should be big enough skimmer for a 90. I have pushed the cup down as far as possible and got a little more wet skimmate, yet still not as much as previous. i will keep playing with it and see what happens, thanks for all replys.
