I had picked up some Green Clown Gobies from my LFS a few weeks back along with a Torch Euphyllia coral. 2 of the 3 went through a 2 week QT fine (didn't have to treat for anything, but lost 1 the 1st night), & then added them to the tank. They all seemed a bit skinny, so I counted the 1st one's death as a combination of stress & malnourishment.
Anyway, the remaining two have been in the main tank the last couple weeks & have been eating (darting in & out of the rock) fine, & have been making themselves at home in my Rhodactis mushrooms.
Yesterday, though, I woke up to find one of them swimming around in circles uncontrollably. It was as though he went gimp in one pelvic fin & couldn't do anything else. When he would tire out & rest for a minute, I could see that this side of his body was kind of clenched up. This morning I haven't seen him at all. I'm not optimistic.
What I was wondering, is that I understand the sweeper tentacles of Euphyllia as supposed to have a moderate sting. I've only seen 1 sweeper in use from the Torch so far (6 polyps). I bought the Torch at the recommendation of my LFS, explaining that I didn't have the lighting sufficient for Acropora.
Does the gimp fin & clenched side sound like a sting reaction? And if it were, has anyone had experience with a fish recovering from it?
