question about return line?

i brought a mag18 for my 90 gallon. now i have a question, when i have the return coming back to the tank, can i split it, one going to the overflow and one going up and over on the right side of the tank? let me know guys. thank you

Yes, but not sure why you'd have water directed directly to the overflow

tell us more about the overflow box per gallon and you sump

its a 90 gallon aga...the sump is gonna be a 50 gallon

mag18 sounds a bit powerful. what's your overflow rate?

do you have one or two hole in you overflow box,if it one inch hole it about 400 to 800 , if two inch hole it about 800 to 1200 gallon hour i think and overflow box in the past,now my tank is drill

ok its a one inch..if the mag18 is too powerful cant i just put a ball valve on it to cut down the flow? i think if i split the return so theres one on each side it will do fine. and also the fish room is in the basement well the tank is upstairs. theres about eight feet it needs to travel before returning to the tank.

that fine, but check if that pump have head pressure to pump water back up to the tank, if head pressure is low one return is good
