Hey..

I've considered ordering a live delivery a few times, but just never got up the nerve to do it.

I know its best to buy live from a store, but there is only ONE in the entire area, and it's not even in my own city!

Which companies have you had good experiance with that don't charge an arm and a leg for shipping?

I've bought from Liveaquaria, Marinedepot Live, Marineaquatics.us, Jeff's Exotic Fish, and The Marine Center ... all handled professionally and without incident.

I'm very happy with liveaquaria's fish I've received so far. Never got corals from them.

If you're getting something rare or expensive, go with themarinecenter.com. Well worth the extra cost.

I've used mail order tons of times without a single mortality. Most charge you the actual shipping, which can be considerable for a big box of water overnight. It won't be less than $45.

Just be sure to pick up the package at your local hub, rather than having it bounce around in the back of a truck all day. Most places use FedEx. I tell the shipper to mark it "hold for customer pick-up" and give them the address of the local fedex. Its usually there at 9 am the next morning. They call to let you know its there too.

Dan's suggestion is right on. I've done that with a number of shipments.

I have used etropicals and IPSF and am happy with both. The last time I ordered, etropicals had free shipping when the total purchase was over a certain dollar amount. (If I remember right it was either $60 or $75.)
