If you were going to set up a 36Lx18Wx21D Clam Tank spend 639.00 for a Hamilton fixture with 1-250W MH and 2- 95W Fluorescents or spend the extra 200 for the fixture that has 2-250W and 2-95W Fluorescents. Will it make a huge difference these prices are fro Jeff@exoticfish. I saw where one of the TOTM for winners had a 3' tank and clams with just one MH bulb is this Ok. Please Reply with any input so I can get this light ordered and get some sleep it is past my bed time. Thanks

I'm not an expert on clams or lighting, but I do know that 2 250 watt lights is twice as bright as 1 250 watt light ;)

So I would think that if you can afford it go for the extra wattage, but maybe someone who keeps clams will answer up.

I Think I might get the 3' Protostar 2 - 250 Watt 10,000K HQI & 2 PC Compact FL 2-96W from Jeff. It cost more than my first car though but I should be able to use it on a larger tank in the future. Will it be too much light, that would be about 11.5W per or am I stressing about this to much.

1 more thing if I have that much light will their be things that it is to much for? Thanks for the help I will be buying a light in the next 3 days just not sure

My fixture has 2 175 MH, 2 PCs and moonlights with separate controls for each. Does the fixture you're going to buy have separate controls for each MH? If so, then you could effectively only run one at a time if it's too much light...
