my reef tank is in my living room and sometimes i play movies with a subwoofer. i started to wonder if my reef tank animals care about the loud movies. do you think it is a concern?
As far as noise no, but they do feel the vibrations and can sense the different variations in vibrations (they can sense the difference between big predators and small predators) or other fish. They have tiny receptors in the nerve hairs of their skull. So a loud noise that rattles your sub-woofer or other speakers will startle your fish. Your other reef critters can also sense the vibrations.
i also have my tank in the living room with my sub, and it booms enough to make vibrations on the water, my clowns were afraid at first but i think they got used to it cause they stopped hiding and came back out to glare at me. they dont seem to notice it anymore
