I have a 60 gallon tank that is intended for strictly fish, maybe a shroom or two. So about 4 months ago I let filling up the evaporated water in my tank (there's nothing in it at the time it has been curing for 8months) when I did fill up my tank I took it from the tap to the tank only treating it with a de-chlorinator. About 3-4 weeks later I had a HUGH cyno outbreak. To control it I killed of the top layer of sand by scrubbing it in hot tap water then soaking it in fresh salt water. So it now appears that the out brake is back and my sand is dead. I am going to do a water change and replace it with RO water that has always fixed cyno out brakes in the past. But I am hoping I can re-seed my live sand? I was planning on taking 10lbs of sand from my 60 and putting it in a spare 10 gallon, then mixing in a pound of live sand from my lfs. In the 10 gallon will be a UGF with uplifts powered by air stones. Now will this re-seed all of that sand or will it just kill it. My idea of seed is seeding algae and bacteria.
