Epoxy recommendations

Any one know of good "reef safe" epoxy for LR and corals..I think I posted a thread like this a couple months ago and was recommended some bizarre brand from Europe...Im hoping to find this stuff readily on the internet and hopefully stateside but international will work too if the cost of shipping isnt too high..

I don't know of a good one. The one I use takes forever to harden, bet once it has it says put.

I used the other stick epoxy, and wasted my money. I just wound up stacking the rock.

Thats the stuff I used..garbage....several days later when i checked to see if it held..the rocks fell and the epoxy just came off..ya the epoxy was hard as a rock but there was no bonding...

Nikon, go to www.deltecusa.us and click on "Aquarium Media", and look for "Aquascape". It's the best stuff on the market. It's from Germany, and sold by the people who make some of the finest skimmers in the world, Deltec. Sold right here in the US by the Dist. of Deltec in America, who is one hell of a nice guy by the way. Give Doug a shout, and get "some good goo" this time!

IME epoxies don't work in the reef by sticking things together. You need to use it in such a way that when it hardens, the shapes involved will be locked in place. For example, a coral frag can be stuck in a small hole in the rock with the epoxy taking up the extra space in the hole. It takes some skill and experience, and frankly I haven't had much success with it myself.

Yeah you have to really mash that stuff into cracks good to get it to stick...and then hold it for 15+ minutes I havn't tried this yet, but maybe if you took a toothbrush to the rocks before the epoxy it might work better. All the grime, algae, loose rock, etc might cause the epoxy to bond to that crud instead of the strudy stuff. Just a thought.

Some people use a combination of epoxy and superglue (i.e. a disk of epoxy with superglue either side to improve stickyness). I use epoxy to fix corals in place, but it really has to be moulded all the way round the rock it's on/coral. Then it pretty much stays in place, but you have this eye-sore of the putty, which takes a long time to get covered in algae/coral.

Z spar works fine for all sorts of underwater tasks

it is a sticky mess to work with but once it hardens it takes dynamite to
break it's hold . It beats the devil out of the sticks.

Aquascape works really well, not like that crap you get at the LFS. I have attached several large (7" plus) SPS using it. I moved these from one tank to another several months ago, none fell over.
