Hello,
This is sort of a re-post but I need your opinions on the quietest pumps out on the market. I am looking for about 500-600 GPH for my protein skimmer. What do you guys/gals recommend, taking into account your personal experiences or knowledge of Pumps. thanks for any help!

yea, not much head needed, its just a feed pump for a protein skimmer. I desire silenceeee (= any suggestions? My local store told me I could only use the ocean runner 2700 with my aquamedic t1000, any of you know this to be true? If thats the case, will I be able to sleep with the OR?

As I said in the other thread. If you have other circulation in the tank, turning off your skimmer while you sleep will not hurt anything.

All pumps make some noise or generate vibration.

The LRF (little rubber feet) help isolate this. The water in your tank is an excellent vibration dampner.

As dirt or build up occurs in your pumps housing it will make some noise and more vibration. Routine cleaning of any underwater pump will make it noiseless to all but the most descerning listener. The most noise will be your overflow in the sump thats a tough place to make quiet and you want all that gas exchange....

The ocean runner is a good pump, has quality housing and impeller.

good luck
