Anyone using blood as a food source for corals and clams? If so, from which animals, any concerns with pathogens that can effect marine animals, and can it be frozen/thawed effectively or does it need to be fresh?

It seems to me that feeding blood (from, I presume, mammals or chickens?) would be a lot of trouble to go to just to feed a food that corals or clams would never encounter in the wild.

Considering that there are a variety of easy to feed more appropriate foods out there to feed corals I don't know why anyone would do that.

Turkey sperm is better than any blood cell. You can order it from turkey sperm bank in your local farm supply....

Seriously, who pioneer this innovative "technique"?

This has been discussed a few times in the past to my knowledge. There are actually a few commercial preparations (black powder) that are actually dried cattle blood cells AFAIK. Do a search on here and see what you come up with.

Thank you for the only intelligent response on this post. Dried blood lacks some of the nutritive value, and, especially, the particle size which I find attractive, as the cells are no longer intact.
