What is everyone using for water change containers?

I was using a 33 gal rubermaid brute can. I started making water last night and woke up this morning and thought that wierd only 1/4 can, usually I have 3/4 or more by now. I went down stairs and found a nice puddle on the carpet and stream coming from the ceiling. The brute has gotten a small hairline fracture at the bottom edge of it where it was molded together and its only a year old.

What do you guys and gals use?

Embarrassed to say, I use two, 1 gallon milk containers to mix up new water!
Snce I only have a 60, and I change out about 6 gallons a week to 2 weeks, and dont really need to top off much, that's what I use.
Ghetto for sure, but it works lol

I use the same Brute you do. Mine get swapped out occationally though.

I did have a Rotifer filled Brute drain completely once but it's affordable to just swap them out.

I use the bucket my instant ocean salt came in. I only have a 10 gallon so I don't need to make that much water.

Sorry to hear. Has to be a bummer.

I used a cheapie 15g with wheels to hold water during a tank move. It was so flimsy it tipped over spilling fish, corals and water all over the living room carpet. One of those wopps now what do ya do now moments.

To keep in it thread. Don't get the cheap ones.

I use this to do water changes on my 150, so I need to be able to make about 30 gal. of water. I am going to go get a new one today.

i call my fish guy, and he comes out and changes my water. if i need to gat water i use my gas cans from home depot, each one has two handles on them for easy caring and pooring :wink:

do you leave the top on it? I yous the same thing you're using without any problems.

Sorry to hear about you busted tank. Check with some of the local delies to see if they buy bulk olives and the like. The barrels are around 40 gallons, food grade and reallt sturdy. Most of the time you can get them for cheep.

Yeah I already went to home depot and spent 27$ on a new 32 gal BRUTE container. The other one leaked at the seam near the bottom. I fill it and then drag it over to the stairs where I can use it to change the water downstairs with a long hose. Dragging the full container puts alot of strain on it I guess.

when you're at Home Depot next time, you can pick yourself up 4 of those heavy-duty coaster wheels. And make yourself a dolly.

They make a dolly specifically for the 33G brute. If had that too for the last 4 years with my brute.

I think I paid $22 extra for the wheels.

44 gallon rubermaid with rubbermaid casters

I use a 20 gallon Rubbermaid trashcan

I fill it about half to 3/4 full and carry it into the living room

I then fill it the rest of the way to the top by carrying water in 5 gallon buckets.

That way its sitting right next to the tank and there is no dragging involved.
