I need a temp drop of at least 10 degrees on a 75-gallon set up (45-gallon tank, 30-gallon sump). I have AC, but can't afford to keep the whole place frigid all summer for one system.

I'm usually a searcher: I actually use the search feature on these boards instead of asking questions that have been addressed a hundred times. BUT, I'm getting tired of wading through hundreds of irrelevant (to me, anyway) hits, so does anyone have a suggestion? I'd love your suggestion to be the least expensive one on the market, but I have a feeling it will be just the opposite.

Whatever is best for my system, I'll bite the bullet and get the best I can afford.

I've used various chillers and love the Aqua Logic units. My current AL has been running a decade without problems. But be aware no conventional chiller runs silent and they all emit a lot of heat into the room, so unless you have a basement or can plumb it outdoors, it's still best to use AC. Unfortunately, you'll need these type of conventional compressor chillers for a tank your size (for a 10 degree pull down). You can't get away with peltier type chillers. All of these are in the neighborhood of $500-700 last I checked :?

Evaporative cooling, of course, is cheapest but 10 degrees is a lot to drop with that method ;)
