Silver branch xenia is getting really close to my clam

I've seen clams with xenia on their shells, with no I'll effects, but I don't know if those were there long term or not.

I know how you feel...when xenia have found their happy place, they're awful hard to stop!

I didnt think they would hurt anything, other than maybe smothering out the light. Just get a little freaked when critters get in close proximities.

It really depends on the clam and the Xenia. I've seen Xenia that are extremely potent and able to burn anything in its path, including mushrooms 8O I've seen ones that are virtually beneign and come in contact with SPS corals with little effect. I'd gauge how your clam is doing daily, or if you wanna be safe, clear some area around it right now.

Yeah, do as Len suggested and go the safe route of clearing away some from now.
It could be safe, but then again....
