Halimeda is a fairly unique algae that lays down an aragonite (a specific calcium carbonate matrix) for its rigidity. Some of the purest aragonite are found in Halimeda.
To my knowledge, Halimeda aragonite is actually very low in PO4 and any other compounds. Though I'm not a chemist (not even close ), I would imagine that aragonite crystal would be low in PO4 since phosphate would hinder calcification. I do know Halimeda aragonite is often used in labs that call for aragonite, so that should say something about its purity.
