I'm interested in these low watt Moon lights that I've seen at various online stores. I don't know much about moon-light for reeftanks and would like to hear about how much difference they make to your tank, are they worth having, what type and how many for my tank (100g reef) ? etc., etc. Any good reading material out there.

Look forward to your thoughts, recommendations and references.

I put a cheap porcelin socket in my hood and installed a 25W GE Blue Party Light. It's part of a line of colored bulbs that GE makes. Cheap and available at Wallmart.

I really like the way it makes the tank look at night. The glimmering effect is nice.

I used blue LEDs (before I moved my tank) and they were really neat, although I only used 6 down the "spine" of my 135g tank, it did a decent job of leaving some light

<-- I enjoy my moonlight. I actually bought one from EBAY. I REALLY dont think it makes much of a differance in the health of your corals and inverts, BUT should you install one I'd recommend turning it off a few days a week just to let the fish rest a while.

When mine is on... the fish still swim about... not as much as during the "day" but more than when the lights are completely out (I know this because I use to use night vision on my vid camera to watch when it was dark haha)

Good luck!
