We need some more info. How long have you had the anemone? Tank specs - lighting - water params - acclimation technique used if the anemone is new.

Its a 75 gal. tank. The parameters are .2 trates, 0 ammo, 0 trites, sg 1.024

I've had the anemone two weeks. It looked good untill today. Now it looks like it is missing some tentacles..

What other coral do you have in the tank that could sting it? Also, could it have been sucked up into a powerhead intake?

Looks like it was caught in a pump or powehead.
I've seen anemones come back from much worse trauma.

Powerheads can be hell on these guys. I just fished my upside down jelly out of my filter after he went thru it. Went thru the impeller and stuck in the filter floss. No damage and he's squishing about fine.

You didn't mention your lighting.

To me it looks like a stressed animal. Being pale and on the glass, it is certainly looking for better conditions. Make sure that if you have ph's in the tank that they have prefilters on them. And you might also try feeding it to make it stay in one spot. In my last to tanks, I had 130w's pc each over a 20L and a 29. In both tanks the bta's bleached and shrunk in size. One did not survive the move, they other has made a full recovery to it's former beautiful self now that it's under 250w mh.

I have the CoralLife (4x65 watts)pc and a strip light for a total of 300 watts

actually 4x65 is 260 watts not 300. of that i assume 2 of the lights are actinic which don't really go towards the usable light for corals and anemones to grow, they are more for supplemental color. you sir are way underlight for a reef. the fact that the anemone is sitting high up on the glass is probably an indication that its wanting to get closer to whatever light you do have.

im not sure if the lighting is what’s causing the problems but it certainly will not help the animal in the long run, think of it as you sitting in a room with only 1/4 of the amount of oxygen you normally get.

I'm with Jim. I don't believe it is a lighting issue... the colors still look fine to me. Anemonies can sometimes look HORRID just because they are kind of re-inflating themselves with water. They go through cycles like this. My BTA has done the same thing. Another possiblity is that a fish is simply pestering the thing too much.. any clowns in the tank that have taken to it? I can't tell from the pic... are the tenticles just deflated a lot, or have they actually been detached? Does your animal look like it is melting? or do you find tenticles floating around?

My guess is that it is just getting use to a new environment. I would make sure your water parameters are ok ..get it in a medium flow area and watch it for a week or so. I bet it will recover :)

Good luck!

B.

Can you get a shot a bit further out so we can see what's near the anemone?

Hows this?

I editted your picture to a more reasonable size. - Len

If I had to guess, it's a water chemistry issue. Have you tried a large water change with good quality water? Any major changes to the tank lately?

BTW, actinic lighting is usuable light and not just aesthetic supplmenation. Fact is, it is a bulb designed for photosynthesis of Chorophyll A (which optimizes 420nm). Corals have this pigment.

Yeah, the green BTA's in particular, like a lot of blue. I'd also consider the age of you system, which appears to be less than 4 months. BTA's are the hardiest of the host anemones, but still need a mature tank.
