I have had a recent outbreak of red slime :x on my rock. The tank is about 2 years old and all parameters are in line, have not checked phosphates though.
Is this stuff cyano or algae?? How can I get rid of it? I know nutrients are a key, but I work to keep them at a minimal. I have not made any major changes with the way I feed the tank and in the past two years I have not had a problem. The skimmer is cleaned regularly, and I just took it apart and cleaned the venturi and lower chamber about two weeks ago.
I currently have a DSB and I am afraid that phosphates might have built up over time and are leeching into the water column. Any ideas??
