I always thought they did, the largest of mine seem to enjoy mysis. The reason I ask this is because I saw posted elsewhere ((coff coff
some other board
coff coff)) that they pull organics directly from the water rather than feed.

Any thoughts?

Mine used to be very small for a very long time, and only after I started to feed it, it started to grow. Now, it is nice, big and happy.

My yuma's do this, but my florida rics tend to ignore it. Ive tried target feeding my fl.rics but the nass, bumble bees, hermits and shrimp get to it before the ric can swallow the food.

does any of the food stick to the yumas?? I have a very very nice yuma I want to propagate but food doesn't stick or anything (not that I expect it to) and its in enough flow that nothing settles on it.

Hey Lawdawg, just try half a silverside and see if it will eat it. I liked to know myself before mine get big enough to eat fish

Just to add my experience. Rics will eat solid food (mine ate mysis) but the reaction is pretty slow, so the powerheads have to be off (I have Streams) and you have to protect them from the hermits etc for long enough.

That said, I haven't fed mine in a while and they seem to be getting big without extra feeding.

They might well absorb organics and be opportunistic feeders on meaty chunks that float by.

I do NOT want to appear to be slinging mud which is why I haven't ((neener neener neneer like) posted the name in context, that's not the point. But, I have watched my larger ones close up around mysis and like sized stuff. The smaller however (smaller than say a quarter) don't seem to feed so perhaps it is both.

I have seen my ricordia eat!!!

I suppose they can uptake from the water as well. I rarely make a special effort to feed them.
