I want to improve the maintainence and quality of my 10g nano. My thoughts were to add a skimmer and a refugium but they both wont fit on the back of the tank. Therefore if one had a choice....which would be most benificial? Thanks.

In my experience a Skimmer will provide more benefits as far as water quality than a refugium. It's not even close.

OK...can anyone recomend a skimmer that will hang on the back and is relativly small.

I have looked at the CPRs but they stand tall above the tank.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have an aqua c on a 15 long. I just let the bottom of the skimmer hang down below the tank, works fine.

I had a Bakpak on a 15H, it worked great. When I stepped down to a 10, I built a hang on fuge and left the skimmer off. It worked really well.

Water changes work just as well as a skimmer for a 10. Do a gallon a week.

I have the bak pak on my 10, but both are on shelf. Works very well. I think on a 10 the skimmer is the better item.

If it was me Id drill a bulkhead up at the water line, find as large a container as would fit in the space available and add a sump/fuge to your little tank.
