i have been looking at how much cheaper i can get better products online vs from the local fish store ... already ordered my stand and canopy from them and was about to drop $650 on an all-glass 120 gallon tank which i was told was the best but whats the word on glasscages.com, the same tank will cost me $230 (48x24x25) is the quality just as good ?

Heard pretty good things about glasscages.com, although you have to arrange for pickup at one of the shows they are attending not sure about their shipping other than that. look at Loueys tank in his thread its a glasscages tank and looks fab!

Somtimes you can find whole set ups at $600.00 in the local paper or the flyer. Even bargin traders are a good place to look. Shop around you might find something you really want cheaper. Unless you have to have it new, then that is a differnt story

$650 is robbery for a 120 AGA. Chances are you live too far away, as this requires pickup from the store, but That Fish Place located in Lancaster, PA sells 120g Perfecto Mfg. brand aquariums(which I feel are the quality of AGA) for $285. Just make sure you call ahead to make sure one will be in stock if you decide to make the trip. Here's the link - http://www.thatpetplace.com/MainPro/tanklist.aspx

That Fish Place carries 220g for about what you're planning to pay for a 120g  Either way, wouldn't harm to shop around

Good Luck!

Hey jsn, I have a 135 (72x18x24) from Glass Cages. Pretty much everything I've read about them online has proven true in actual experience. It's pretty heavy duty. With the extra glass reinforcing the seams on the bottom, I can't see this thing ever leaking.

Pros:
*Great price
*sturdy build
*If I'm not mistaken they will do some custom work at your direction for relatively cheap

Cons:
*Silicone job isn't the greatest...but the excess cleans up quickly and easily
*Shipping cost may negate any savings, but if you can pick up at a show I think it's not too bad
* standard plastic bracing on the tank isn't great but you could always get them to give you some sweet bracing like Louey's tank (yum!)
* on my tank, the cross braces are at 18" centers not 24" like on other manufacturers' tanks. I don't think this will be a problem for the dimensions you are looking for, but anyone else looking these tanks needs to consider this as far as lighting is concerned. I was thinking about 3-400w. SE's for the standard 135, but it looks like with the 18" spacing I need 4-250w. DE's, or 2-400w center and 2-250w on each end.

Overall, it's not fancy but the price is right and it's built well!
Best of luck!
