Today the power went out pretty early and just cut on a few minutes ago. My fish have been w/out light all day when they came back out the were all white. They are not eating or swimming but I see their eyes moving around and I can tell they are breathing does anyone know if the light had anything to do with this whats happening?? 8O

When the power goes out, the biggest concern is circulation. When you have no circulation, your tank will quickly (and I mean in a couple of hours) become close to anoxic, depriving your organisms the oxygen they need. You are probably seeing the results of this condition. If they're alive, they will likely recover. Be careful to look out for disesase during this time as your fish were terribly stressed. Also, go out and buy a battery operated air pump. In the event of a power outage, they can save your tank.

Len is right, how's the tank doing today? Also, ya might want to keep an eye out for an ammnia spike due to die-off.

Get some power backups and some battery powered airpumps that kick on when the power goes. That's how my guys made it through the big blackout.

Sorry about the loss.
