Im trying to decide what is better to put in my new refugium. Miracle mud $60 or Mineral mud for $20. The description on the back seems very similar. Let me know your expieriences on either. Thank you in advance.

They both appear to be overpriced marketing schemes to me.

The "miracle" is that anyone buys the stuff...

I agree with Guy, I wouldn't bother with either one.

BTW, :welcome: Wet Wille...

Hi

We purchased an EcoSystem 60 3-4 years ago when we set up our reef tank. The system says to use Miracle Mud and we have. But after reading a previous post about Miracle Mud and because of our own experience with it, we won't buy it again.

Last I heard those "MUDS" are exactly that....MUD. I would go with some fine sand instead. Does Home Depot still sell SouthDown Sand?

It says that the mud provides trace elements and keeps nitrates down. That dosing with a bunch of suplements would not be necesary anymore. Just your calcium buffer. So you think sand would do the trick ??

Sand won't do the trick either. Unfortunately, this hobby is still not in the stage that let people put a one time fee and forget about it forever. In the mean time, we just have to use the "lost 50 lb of fat overnight!" pill once a while.... ;)
