Would the Magfloats work on 1/2 glass?

They worked fine on my 75G.

Am I going to need a more powerful magnet on my 300G?

the 360A should do the trick. They are rated to something like 5/8" glass. I have one. . . very nice. . . just don't get your fingers in between them! BTW - VERY nice setup. Can't wait to see some pics of it stocked! Keep up the good work!

The largest Mag works. I've tried it. Tunze makes really strong magnets too, but they're pricey.

Thanks. Hoping to get some live rock in it tomorrow night :D

I have one of those on my 75G. It does fine on cleaning the glass of the regular dust algea, but it can't handle coraline. I usually scrape that off with a blade when I do a WC.

I think mine is the largest Magfloat, about 4"X2" or so.

I use the large Twister magnet on my Oceanic. The glass is just a smidge under 1/2" thick. 7/8". The magfloat I have isn't strong enough.

It looks like the one from that site that might be right for me is this one:

Tiger Shark Float - $99.95
US Patent 6,634,052 and US Patent 6,348,104
The Tiger Shark Float is the largest floating magnet available! It has a floating inner assembly and a large 4" x 2" cleaning area for the big job of larger tanks. Its floating inner assembly will float to the surface if disengaged for easy retrieval.

This cleaning magnets is for use on glass
and acrylic aquariums 5/8" and 3/4" thick.

Glass Aquariums
200-350 gallons
Acrylic Aquariums
72" long and 36" high, 96" long and 30" high, 120" long and 24" high

I hate the idea of laying down $200 for two magnets, but I don't want to have to move them from the back to the front glass all of the time. That would be a PITA.

Yep, I have one on my Mag 350 (or is it 360?). The blade is easilly detachable, so you attach it only when you need to use it. Brilliantly simple idea .... always the best kind!

It's good to see that it is detachable. Looks like to much of a weapon to leave in your tank at all times.

My magfloat doesn't work so good for coraline either.

What I do is use a cheap penn-plax mag scraper on the inside, and the powerful magfloat magnet on the outside. The mag scraper can just sit in the tank. I just replace the blade every 6 months ($2 each). This works great for coraline and thick glass.

I wish penn-plax made a larger version of their scraper because it works great.

I have the big Tunze, a Magnavore (Shark) and the biggest Mag-Float.

I use the Mag-Float day to day.

I use the Shark for Coralline.

I use the Tunze to hold a powerhead.
