How to start suction?

How do you start the suction on the overflow u tube?

stick a piece of airtube up into the tube and suck yourself

make sure it is in the middle of the bend of the tube or you will be sucking a lot

I think you can also stick an airline from the venturi on a powerhead up there to get it started.

A lot of people have venturi's permenatly attached to their U tubes so that if the system loses power when it restartes the Siphon will start back up.

How do you start the suction on the overflow u tube?

Drill a small hole in the u tube insert one of those air check valves and put a small piece of air tubing on the check valve.Suck away and it will start plus if it ever stops (mine never do) you already have everything in place to start it back up.

I use syringe to suck air out of the siphon tube of kalk doser. Trust me, you don't want to get the kalk solution in your mouth.
