small or self contained skimmer

Does anyone have any tips on protein skimmers please. I have a small 40 gallon tank but its built into a cabinet and I only have 2.5 inches clear at the back of the tank, and 3 inches clear under the hood. I was wondering if there anyone might have a solution?

install a sump? if no room underneath maybe an overhead sump.. kinda like a refugium setup.

if not, then an airdriven skimmer will fit.. it just won't be real nice to look at.
or you could put a HOT skimmer on the inside :lol:

could you use a prizm skimmerthere only 2 in wide
