What would be the best recommended size tank for a 36" Outer Orbit Fixture, 1x150w MH, 2x96w PC Atinic?

I was considering the a 55g, but then I noticed the tank length was 48". Then I noticed a 65g tank is approximately 36"! So, I gutess I'm curious if it would be better to get the 65g due to it being close in length to the fixture?

On a side note, I was hoping to also put the fixture in some type of pre-purchased canopy. Currently considering AGA for the supplier. Not really a DIY-er kind of guy. Anybody have experiences with this guy under a canopy.. (i know.. site says not to use canopy... perhaps I answered my own question..)

Thanks for your time.

I have the 48 incher on my 120, and I really like it!

I don't think I would put it in a canopy though, I would worry it wouldn't get enough air flow since the fan intake is on the end. It sits nicely on the tank all on it's own, which is one thing I love about the fixture.

I think the most important thing when choosing the tank to go along with it, is that you cannot have a center brace since there is one MH in the center. I don't know if they put center braces on any 3 feet long tanks, I suspect not.

My 46 bowfrontis 36" has a brace. I hate it and the tank would probably be fine without it but Im not gonna take it upon myself to find out!

The smallest reef ready tank I could quickly find was a 58g oceanic tank, so I think that might be the best option for me. Otherwise, it depends on the price difference between a 58g oceanic and a 65g AGA megaflow tank, though I have heard the 65 may have a center brace on it... ?

Thanks Laura for brining up the canopy topic. Looks like I may have to toss that idea out.

I think the streamlined simple design is one of my favorite things about the outer orbit. Maybe if you really want something to put into a canopy you could look into some of the retro fit kits that are for sale.

Probably save money on a retrofit if youre gonna go that way. But Laura is right the orbit does have a nice look.

I like the orbit b/c of it's design and it's "all in one" feature. I guess I could look into retrofit kits that include a similar setup (150w MH/ 4x96 PC Atininc, 4 moon lights). Any suggestions?

Hey Wujimon,
Do you have an Orbit fixture? I see they dont cost much and was thinking of buying one. Worth the money???

Hi K9.

I don't have one, but the 36" one is in my price range and since that's gonna be my biggest single purchase, I figure it'd be good to design around it. In doing searches, I've seen nothing but good remarks. I especially want to see what the moon lights look like in action since the last time I did a reef tank, they were not existent.

Make sure you check out the Outer Orbit which has MH. I believe the "orbit" is just the PC version of the light.

I was looking at the lights on aquatraders.com but the prices seem too good to be true. And with reef supplies that saying holds true!

Yeah but I was under the impression that Outer Orbit, JEBO, Odyssea were all manufactured by the same company?
