What kind of anemone you can put in your tank really depends on how your tank is set up.

What kind of lights and flow do you have on it?

Most anemones can be deadly to other corals. I don't have much experience with them, but I would pick one that is known to move around less.

Some of them have the reputation of "walking" all over your tank and sitting right next to the most expensive coral you've got.

By the way, welcome to the board. Hope you like it here.

Also, try to search some, there's been years of great posts on this site that may help you.

alright i f you buy an anemone look for scratches or any rips or tears cause thats what will kill your corals and fish.

the rips start to become infected and the bacteria generated in the wounds spread out to your corals and infects and kills them so looking at your anemones before you buy it is crushal.

one anemone you might consider is the bubble tip anemone. it is pretty hardy and most clowns love it. and it is a cool anemone to look at.

Good Luck

A rip or tear in the foot may kill the anemone but not the other corals in your tank. In general healthy corals, in a healthy system wont die b/c something else in the tank dies.

Bubble tips are relatively easy to keep, as long as the lighting is strong and they are fed good meaty foods. However, they do tend to wander. Carpets can be kept under strong lights, but they need ample space due to their size and powerful sting. Be aware that they are known to consume fishes, even the clowns that reside in them at times.

Carpets will definitely kill your corals if they move around and come into contact with them.

I woas going to post what Anemonebuff stated. BTA's are easily kept with the proper lighting. Mine hasn't even MOVED for the last 8mos or so. If your looking for a good mostly peaceful anemone that's what I would suggest. Find a nice bright red one:)

Tube anenome's need a dsb, but don't require the stronger lighting. The one I have stands straight up at night to catch food, it's well over 9" tall now. Make sure you have lots of room verticaly for it. It also needs to be fed frequently, mysis shrimp will work well for it's food. If you give it larger chucks, it will have a tendency to "puke" the food back up.
