Today I got a new cleaner shrimp. I let him acclimate w/ the lights off and after 45min I let him go and still kept the lights off so he could get used to the tank. I turned the lights on and hes dead, so I call my LFS and ask what happened and they said they'd give me another (thats why I stay with only one store and do all my buying there) anyway so I get a new one (same day) go through the same process turn on the lights..., dead. Am I doing something wrong? Its making me upset

got to be VERY careful with cleaner shrimp (others to I believe). Temperature acclimation quite frankly is not enough. You need to slowly acclimate those suckers to all the chemical parameters too. That means floating your bag for 30 minutes, then put the water & all into another container and either drip acclimate, or add a half cup of tank water every 20 minutes for a couple hours.

I notice this is something my LFS does when it gets shrimp, and for a LFS to acclimate pets to this level is far out there.

how is the salinity of the bag vs the salinity of your tank?

Slow drip for an hour (or more) to bring them to the same level.

Classic Osmotic shock.

Drip acclimation is the best for all crustaceans.
