Hey, where's the best place to get 1" bulkheads, fittings, elbows, check valves, adapters, tubing, etc. I just put a shopping cart together at a popular marine site and it came out to nearly $100. A bit much for a 45 gallon tank, considering I still have to get a chiller.

Oh, and I was in Home Depot today and I couldn't find the right items or sizes.

I'm sure you can find what you need at home depot. Just use your own ideas. I got all my stuff from home depot. If not try a local plumbing store or a different hardware store.

I think that I spent that $100 many times over at my local Lowes hardware store, the main reason being that I insist on glueing the parts and that I change my mind often :-(.

And you're right: many things are just not available at local hardware stores: bulkheads, screens, gate valves, etc.

www.savko.com has lots of good plumbing parts. Also try www.usplastics.com

I get bulkheads from wherever I'm ordering fish stuff. An extra $10 to $20 isn't bad when you're getting $100 worth of stuff.

The rest I get at HD or Lowes. Lowes has better stuff most of the time

Yeah, some of these plastic parts can really add up, $20 buck here and there can get expensive.

The best policy is to check around and find the best deal. Bingo got some good rec. up there.

I didn't know you could paint PVC ... what about salt creep? Will the pain flake off and pollute the tank?
