Coral, mobile invert, fish, whatever. What do you think is the coolest looking thing? And would you put it in your tank? What about the coolest thing you'd attempt to keep? (for those who answer the $10k leafy sea dragons :)).

For me I think the long spined black urchin just has this nasty look to it, and then when you look closely and see those blue dots which if looked at right can trace out a pentagram on it, it just says evil beast! :) I think the black brittle star looks equally evil, but it hides all the time so it doesn't look cool at all :)

Not exactly reef-safe but I'm a sucker for Dasyatidae: skates and rays, unfortunately I don't have the room anymore, but I always kept both fresh water and marine rays. They all have great personalities, cool looking and some even kind of dangerous. :D

Wow. That's pretty crazy. This was the first thing I thought when I saw the title of this thread. :D You can read my thoughts, can't you!?!?!

I have a Diadema (the one sfsu is describing) urchin, and a pair of harlequin shrimp. The flamboyant cuttlefish is way cooler. But this might beat it...

I like sea hares, but I saw a couple of medusa worms the other day and those things are freaky  If I had a larger tank, I'd be snatching them up! 8)

Matt, how much of a bulldozer is the Diadema urchin in reality? I know they can knock everything over, but are their issues of them displacing large rocks?

What's even scarier is that I was mentally debating flamboyent cuttlefish vs. mimic octopus in my head before I posted my reply! So the saying goes about "great minds"... This proves that it also works with mediocre minds, too!

Righty- What's the news on your cuttle anyways? Can we get some new pics?

Hmm, not much of one. They're pretty careful about moving around stuff. Obviously if you have loose frags they'll get knocked off. I've never noticed mine moving an entire rock. S/he is about a foot from the bottom of the test to the top of the tallest spines. From what I remember they get 3 feet across! So they may be able to when they get bigger.

You may PM Greg Schiemer about this if you're really interested. I know he has had one for awhile.

I am shamed!

Don't be, they won't be selling for $10K for too long. I'm not a liberty to talk about it, but there is some major work being done on them stateside with possiable MO sales in the future (less the the import price of $10k).
