Green algae dots

I've been in this hobby for along time now, and it still surprises me how little I know about it.

I have little green dots (and some green streaks) in my nano...it's obviously some kind of algae. Once a week I spend an hour trying to scrap it off the glass. It's hard...I have to concentrate on each little piece and scrap it off with a decent amount of force. Not surprisingly, I'm getting a bit tired of this.

What is this? And, more importantly...what eats it?

It's a type of corralline algae. Nothing to worry about. You probably will have to pick it off with a finger nail or credit card.

In my case, those little green spots start growing hair algea of some sort. And you already know what eats that. :wink:

You know, a picture of the tank with these little green men would help us to identify them.....



I mean little green dots of course...

It's an extremely contagious form of coral virus which can spread to your entire tank, and thence humans by direct physical contact with the tankwater. You will need to give all your corals to me for safekeeping, since I am Canadian, and therefore immune to American virus's

That might explain the rash covering 80% of my body, and why it burns when I tinkle. :wink:
