I have a 48in Maristar MH system. The specs are:

BW 7-Dual MH 250w HQI, 2-46" True Actinic 54w T5 Actinic, 2-10k Double Ended MH 250w HQI.

I want to change my lights because I want a bit of a bluer look (this appears quite bright and a bit yellowish).

My question is - which bulb is most preferred by reefers. Obviously, there is no right or wrong here. But I would like a light/bulb that is both aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as good for the corals.

I read the radium is good, and so are ushios, etc. But wanted to see if anyone could provide their input. I would really appreciate it.

I mainly have acroporas and other various sps and lps. It is a 90gallon reef with 100lbs LR.

If I switch to a 13k or 14k mh bulb, does that mean I should change my actinics as well because it would be TOO BLUE?

Your input is greatly appreciated !!!!!

Right now, the hottest bulbs are the AquaConnect and Phoenix 14K's. If you can find them, it's well worth it. The AC is pricey, but the 'Made in Japan' Phoenix bulbs are nearly half the price. I hear that www.reefgeek.com will have more 250W DE later this month. I'll be putting a 150W DE over my frag tank.

If you can't wait, the Giesemann Megachrome Blue is an excellent quality bulb. It's not as blue as the AC or Phoenix, though.

Thanks reefnutz....I saw that I can get Aquaconnect 250W HIT 14,000K. This seems to be a great bulb, but wondering if anyone has had exp with it?

IF I get these 2 bulbs, would I still use my t5 actinics? Or would I replace those with a 'whiter light' ?

Most of the growers I've seen that use the AC, still use actinic supplementation. The AC is blue, but not Radium blue.
