clam with attachment issues

My crocea does not attach to anything. He is about 5" long. I have had him about 9 months. His color is good and other than never attaching he looks healthy. I have tried rock, sand, high, and low. He just cannot commit....Is there anything that I can or should do?

Leave him be, he should be ok. But probably one of the best people to talk to about this is Clamcrazy.

if u really want her to attach, just place small rocks under the sand she's on. she'll choose one if she likes to.

Wasn't it that once a clam gets big enough it rely's on its weight to keep it in place and not the foot. Thought i heard that somewhere. Clam would know better than me.

Croceas/maximas bysally attach themselves to hard substrates, regardless of size.
