Ok...he was about 1" when we got him...in about 2-3months he's molted half a dozen times and is now about 2-3" long!!!

I'm sorta worried he's gonna start harrassing our clown and pygmy angel when they're sleeping. He's currently lording over all in our 25H.

TYIA!

Female S. hispidus (they're larger than males) will reach about 3 1/2" in length.

roughly 6in with antennae...I have a fully grown CBS...fairly large with the antennae..chances are he wont harass anything in the tank..I have a smaller tank then you and have a couple of active clowns and a damsel..He leaves them well alone unless they encroach on him..then he lets them know...Ive had a few CBS and none have ever predated on any fish...

Well I've seen mine try and stalk my clown at night when the clown was sleeping. Clown has since moved his bed :)

His antennae are *way* longer than 6" Probably a good 8-12" full spread on them.

Not the best shot, but you can see how big the sweep of his antennae are. He's about 2-1/2" right here. Antennae at the time were 6-8" spread.
If I can get my freakin Vivitar working again, I'll get some updated pics...need some of the nano anyway..

I have one two that I have had for 2 years now and she is huge about the same size or a little bigger.I have her in a 30 gal tank with other shrimp ,and she don't bother any of them, may because when I got her she was so small only about 11/2 inch.

That pic looks similar to the size of mine which ive had for a year now and is fully grown..however looking at that pic, his antennae are only about 3-4"...my tank is 24" long and if that were true, with its antennae, it would be half as long as the tank, and in my case that isnt true...

The Banded Coral Shrimp is also known as the Banded Cleaner Shrimp, Banded Boxing Shrimp, or Coral Banded Shrimp. S. hispidus has a red and white banded body with fairly long pinchers and an extra long white antennae. Its body has a prickly texture and length rarely exceeds 3 inches, 6 inches with the antennae.

In this case, live aquaria is fairly correct...I have had a few Stenopus hispidus at full size never really exceeding 7"...You may be correct, because i think in the wild they may grow even larger...Im basing my judgement off my experience with them..

Mine I have had for 2 years and each of his antennae's are about 8" long. His Body from tip of tail to tip of pinchers (held in normal postion) is about 3" long. He molts about once a month or once every three weeks. For a while it was every 2 weeks. I had him in a 46G tank but he is now in a 120 so we will see if he gets any bigger.

Thanks,
Shane
