I have just installed a seio 820 superflow powerhead. It does move water well but it is very loud. Does anyone have experience with this powerhead? I have a tunze stream in another tank and while it is more expensive, given what I see now I would not buy the seio over the tunze even with the price difference.

Sounds to me like you just go a bunk one. I would talk to the place you got it from and get a replacement.
The one I am running is dead quiet.

i don't have one of the superflow pumps but have had other rios without problems.

seems they often get ragged on... and possibly for good reason, but not IME.

as for the feedback i have read on the seio, i have never heard anyone complain other than i once heard someone say the output is less than what is claimed.

The Seio is a completely different design from their other pumps.

I have 5 of them, 4-620 models and one 1-1100. First thing what sort of noise is it? Is it the grinding noise? or a rattling plastic noise? If its the later the housing can come lose during shipping, that happened with one of my 620 pumps, I simply took all the plastic stuff off, and hooked it back up (later I removed it completely because I prefer the tunze style as it moves more water quicker). If its the grinding noise take apart all the way to the impeller, then put it back together and see if it still makes the noise. If still nothing, then you got a bunk one, they don't make noise.
